Celtic MP3 Music Magazine http://celticmp3s.com/magazine/"Charm & Fire" by Maidens III by Catherine L. Tully
Artist: Maidens III Album: "Charm & Fire" Year produced: 2006
Listening to the music on this CD it is very difficult to believe that these ladies are so young--they have totally mastered their instruments. The only time you hear it is in their lovely and innocent-sounding voices, which ring with the purity that only comes with youth. A mixture of Celtic and Folk music, the tracks range from reels to jigs to ballads and more.
The young ladies are sisters who have played together for much of their lives, which explains how the music is so incredibly tight. The slower songs are filled with yearning and the upbeat have an energy that is packed full--even energetic by the standards of Celtic music! Whatever you do, don't miss track 3, "As I Was Going To Ballynure" for its skillful arrangement.
This CD is titled very appropriately--these young women are charming as can be and they sparkle with musical energy that could aptly be described as fire. Violin, Guitar, Viola and Bodhran are some of the instruments highlighted here and it makes for pretty music. Accomplished playing and sweet vocals are the simple keys to this album's magic--it is very well done. |

For Folk Music Lovers, New and Old Style!
I found this album has incredible range and variety. You will find everything
from spirited Irish dances, English & Irish folk music, to some fabulous new folk music
form a good friend of mine Seymour Barab – “I’ll never go to Macy’s” with an Irish twist.
These four sisters may be from the American heartland (Ohio) but, they have the spirit of
the United Kingdom in the music and in turn their soul. Well done ladies!
I look forward to the next album and your expanding music range…till then bravo! Operachcick
Congratulations to you and your sisters.
"Hi Heather, Just checking in with you to tell you I received
your CD and absolutely LOVE it.
I've been playing it over and over. It's a work of beauty.
Intonation, dynamics, artistry....all wonderful.

Thoroughly Delightful!
"I like to hear the Scottish drum in music, I really enjoyed this CD. This is very professional sounding
and I would not have known the ladies were from Ohio, must be the Scottish part of the state.
A delight for the ears." Shirley Kules
Loved the CD!
"My mom just called and said she and her husband love the CD
(Charm & Fire) that I sent to them for their anniversary. She wanted me
to let you know that your daughters are as good as the "Celtic Woman"
that she has seen on TV. She loves your group and she said
you sound like such a NICE family and are truly blessed.
Thanks so much, Cathy"
Very Good
"Loved it, the sound was awesome and I want to hear more of these God gifted Ladies!" Roger Reed
"Dear Girls, Thanks so much for the impressive CD! Y’all are simply oozing with talent.
Yours is the 1st music I’ve listened to since Sept. I've just been too fried & exhausted
and other music was as clanging symbols. Your Celtic combos truly soothed & relaxed me."
Lot’s o’ love, Pat Hamilton
Dear Havilah, Thank you very much for sharing your
CD with me! I have enjoyed listening to it immensely!! ...
Please pass along how much I enjoyed listening to
your talented sisters. Sincerely, Pam Patula
Great Job!!! Enjoyable to listen to
"Hello, Gals, Our family was delighted over the sounds of the blissful and
refreshing folk music from days gone by.
The lively sounds of voices harmonizing together, were seemly fitting
for this style of impressive and distinctive quality." Chris Price
Dear Heather, Thanks so much for the CD! It is wonderful to listen to,
which we do almost every day during school, and I find myself humming Rocky Top
at the oddest times during the day. The children’s favorites are the 1st and 2nd tracks
and your CD has replaced our former favorite, Fiona Ritchie's Thistle & Shamrock compilation CD.
You are all very talented and we wish the best for you in the future.
Thank you again for the excellent CD. I’m buying copies for my
Celtic loving Friends! Sidney Thompson
The enjoyment is infectious. Well done!
"Dear Havilah, Heather, Abigail and Tabitha,
The music in your album was a pleasant surprise. There is a good variety of numbers
in enjoyable sequence, with nice instrumental rhythms and pleasant vocals.
“Charm and Jollity” describes them well. The first song," Irishman's Heart to the Ladies"
is a lively and fun beginning, followed by memorable tunes I have found myself humming later on.
I especially liked "Star of the County Down" and "I Attempt from Love's Sickness".
Heather's vocal ability really shines! "Swallow Tail jig" and "The Basso" are upbeat and fun,
highlighting the instrumental talents of all three, then I like the way the mood changes with "Snowbird".
"Pretty Girl Milking her Cow" is another of my favorites; all three voices blend beautifully.
Your Irish Brogue is evidence of the practice and hard work that must have gone into
this project." Gail Myers
Excellent music, and for the Lord!
"This CD is very inspiring and entertaining.
The range of song styles keeps things interesting, whiles the lively tunes
get caught in your head. All in all, a top-notch production." Spencer Dupre`
